CEO of your career newsletter HIGHLIGHTS 2026-clean

This week I ate a large portion of humble pie

I thought publishing my first LinkedIn newsletter would be fairly simple.

However, this is what really happened:

On Sunday, my newsletter mysteriously turned into an article.

On Monday, I successfully created the newsletter. Unfortunately, there was no content. 😂

On Tuesday, I finally got the newsletter and the content in the same place!

Third time was the charm.

I’ll admit that it was frustrating. I’m used to helping others figure things out, and here I was, struggling to publish a simple LinkedIn newsletter.

This was a good reminder of what it feels like to be the one learning something new. And how much a little help can mean.

I am so grateful to my colleagues for convincing me to start publishing the “CEO of Your Career” newsletter, and for helping me figure out what went wrong.

But the best part? “CEO of Your Career” went from zero to 729 subscribers in two days!

To everyone who subscribed, thank you!

After that experience, it’s exciting to see people sign up.

I’ll be sharing stories from my years in recruiting, HR, and coaching, along with practical strategies you can use in your own career.

CEO of Your Career Newsletter HIGHLIGHTS

Rock stars, pro-athletes, and movie stars have agents who manage their careers.

Most of us regular people don’t.

So we’re left to negotiate job offers, ask for raises, build important networks, track our achievements, and get ready for whatever’s next.

But ZipRecruiter’s Q4 2025 data shows that nearly 70 percent of new employees said yes to their jobs without negotiating.

That’s why I wrote my book You Are the CEO of Your Career, and chose the same name for my LinkedIn newsletter.

In my first episode, I explain what the title means and offer six steps to help you take more control of your future.

Are you steering your own career, or letting things happen to you?

I’d love to hear your stories.
