Welcome to Career Tip Tuesday!
Now is the BEST time to prepare for your future!
FACT: Over 80% of new hires will be referred by someone they know to get the job of their dreams. The more people you know, the more likely someone will refer you for your next job opportunity.
That is why it is more important than ever to broaden your network and stay connected to improve your career opportunities.
Here are some simple things to do to expand your network.
Review your LinkedIn profile. Does your Headline convey what you do? Does your About section tell the reader why you do what you do? Is your Experience section updated with your current information?
Is your LinkedIn picture professional and flattering? Do you look approachable? If not, take a good-quality photo and improve your profile immediately.
Use the power of the LinkedIn messaging function. If there is a solid green dot on your connection’s LinkedIn profile it means that they are currently using LinkedIn. When you see that dot, direct message your connection to get their attention.
Post regularly on LinkedIn to gain credibility and broaden your network. Find interesting content and share it with your network.
Reach out to LinkedIn connections you haven’t spoken to in a while and schedule some time to talk. You never know when you will learn something or your next big opportunity will present itself.
Your competition is hard at work trying to get noticed.
